The Tennessee Kappa Alumni & Volunteer Corp. has begun a search for a new Chapter Counselor following the departure of D. Renard Miles, II (Memphis-Lambuth 2015) for a position at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. Miles was named the fraternity’s fifth Chapter Counselor in September of 2019, and will continue serving in the role until a successor is named.
“We’re excited for Renard’s next adventure in Virginia,” AVC President Stephen Yeargin (2006) said. “That institution is getting a terrific guy and we’re grateful for the time he had with us.”
Miles was UT Martin’s Assistant Director of Career and Employer Development and is an adjunct instructor at UT Martin. He has served since 2018 as the Faculty Fellow for Tennessee Kappa, and has worked closely with the undergraduate members. After a national search, we was selected to serve as William & Mary’s Director of Employer Engagement and Programming.
Sigma Phi Epsilon describes the Chapter Counselor role as:
The chapter counselor is responsible for coordinating volunteer support to mentor members of the undergraduate chapter. He or she provides the continuity necessary to ensure long-term chapter success. As an appointee of the district governor, the chapter counselor is also charged with upholding the Fraternity’s Grand Chapter Bylaws and Administrative Policies and Procedures.
The Alumni & Volunteer Corp. (AVC) will work with District Governor Kelly Williams (Tennessee 1992) to identify potential candidates.
