Update 3/12/2020: We regrettably had to postpone our Alumni Weekend events out of an abundance of caution and following the guidance of the university and national fraternity officials. We are aiming to hold the event over the summer or early in the fall.
Sigma Phi Epsilon at UT Martin has announced the dates and main event for its annual gathering of alumni and friends, with next spring marking 25 years since the chapter received its Charter from the national fraternity. The weekend will be March 27-29, 2020, with a special celebration event from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at Discovery Park of America in Union City.
The alumni weekend is the continuation of the annual “Family Day” event, a tradition that began in the chapter’s earliest days as a SigEp colony on campus. This year is also one for the chapter to mark important recent milestones, including the final purchase of the chapter property by the Tennessee Kappa Alumni & Volunteer Corp. (AVC) and the appointment of our fifth chapter counselor.
The chapter’s alumni, now numbering more than 300, live in 25 states and with one in Canada. The undergraduate members and the AVC are working together to bring as many of them back to Martin for the event as possible.
“We believe a quarter century of continuous operation is a terrific milestone,” said AVC President Stephen Yeargin (2006). “We have been working to re-connect with many of our brothers for the last eight months.”
The main event will be held in the Dinosaur Hall in the Discovery Center building. The $200 million park opened in 2013 as a one-of-a-kind education center in West Tennessee, with a mission to inspire children and adults to “See Beyond.”
Tennessee Kappa held its 20-year event at the same location.
More details about the event will be released later through email as well as on the event landing page on our website.
