It is so much more than a football game that makes UT Martin’s homecoming experience, but it’s also nice to see the Skyhawks knock off a formidable and nationally-ranked opponent in thrilling fashion Saturday.
The week began with Rope Pull, with Tennessee Kappa knocking off Pi Kappa Alpha in the second pull of the day. It was a special moment for alumnus Jarrod Rhodes (1999) to watch his son Jacob Rhodes (2023) pull in his first match, just like he had more than two decades ago.
Tuesday’s championship rematch with Alpha Gamma Rho did not go the chapter’s way, with the group settling for a fourth-place finish after the consolation round with Sigma Alpha Epsilon. It was the first rope pull for many members of the chapter, and an experience they’ll take forward.
Lip Sync on Tuesday night featured an amusing rendition of The Lion King, though we’re pretty sure we aren’t getting invited to join the Broadway company anytime soon.
The fraternity learned that night that brother Collin Stricklin (2021) was named to the Homecoming Court. While he didn’t pick up the crown Saturday, the chapter was proud of his campaign.
The chapter also submitted a banner with this year’s theme of “Come one, come all to the greatest university of all.” 🎪
The week ended with Quad City and offered a chance to meet with the alumni and friends who had made the journey back to Martin for the day.
